6 years ago, a trip to the nearby beach would have looked something like this: me. towel. magazine. or me. towel. friends. no prepping. no sunscreen. no planning in advance. just bliss. relaxation.
fast forward to present day: me. two wild kids. towels. beach bag. loads of sunscreen. buckets & shovels. drinks. more sunscreen.
when we get to the beach, the boys immediately take off to the water. no fear, running full speed. i suddenly become the helicopter mom, threatening to leave if they dare go in any further. 3 panic attacks later, i coax the boys out of the water to go build sandcastles. instead, they roll around in the sand, making sure there are a bazillion grains of sand on every part of their bodies. once satisfied, they repeat the process, running towards the ocean.
life is so much different with the boys, but even so i wouldn't trade my time with them for a relaxing day at the beach.
***thanks to everyone for their kind words, comments, and emails...harp is scheduled for an ultrasound on thursday morning to see what the bulge in his leg is...we probably won't know the results right away, but i'll keep everyone updated as soon as we know something!
