Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying,“This is the way; walk in it.” Isaiah 30:21

All I Really Need To Know.....

...I Learned In Kindergarten. {Uncommon Thoughts On Common Things} By: Robert Fulghum

I'm reading this book right now. I actually read some of the play adaptation for it years ago, but came across it at the library the other day (in the philosophy section, no less) and thought I'd read the actual book. I am LOVING it, just in case you were wondering. Most people have heard/read/seen the book or play, but I thought it would be nice to take a minute and examine the top things Fulghum listed as essentials:

"Most of what I really need to know about how to live and what to do and how to be I learned in kindegarten. Wisdom was not at the top of the graduate school mountain, but there in the sandpile at Sunday School. These are the things I learned:

{1} Share everything.
{2} Play fair.
{3} Don't hit people
{4} Put things back where you found them.
{5} Clean up your own mess.
{6} Don't take things that aren't yours.
{7} Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody.
{8} Wash your hands before you eat.
{9} Flush.
{10} Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.
{11} Live a balanced life-learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work everyday some.
{12} Take a nap every afternoon.
{13} When you go out into the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands and stick together.
{14} Be aware of wonder."

I wonder what our world would be like if everyone followed these simple rules?
