Grant is ONE!

Grant Joseph is ONE today!

That sweet baby has blessed our lives SO much this past year, and my heart is so full of love for him. This year went by in a blink of an eye-I can't hardly stand it. I wish I could just soak in all of his babyness-the way he buries his head into my chest when he's cuddling, his giggles when he see's his big brothers, the way he grabs on to my finger when he drinks his bottle...I feel like the days fly by like minutes and my heart aches at the thought of forgetting these parts of his babyhood.

******

At 12 months old, Grant is wearing 18 & 24 month clothing. He isn't overly chubby or long, he is just solid all around. He is definitely my biggest baby of the three-which is good for him because his brothers do not hold back with him much anymore! He goes for his check-up on Wednesday so we'll know his stats then.

His hair is brown/auburn and looks really ginger in lighting, and his eyes have turned hazel. He still has 7 teeth-4 on top and 3 on the bottom.

He is a master crawler and can pull himself up and cruise. I don't think he'll walk until 14/15 months (like Harp) but he could surprise us :)

He is CRAZY about Carson and Harper. He follows them around the house nonstop and looks for them in their room when they are at school. Sometimes the boys get their legos out in their bedroom, close the door, and tell Grant "No Babies Allowed!" It is SO sad, but also for his safety.

The only toys (of his own) that he plays with are his balls and stacking cups. He loves to throw his balls around the house and then chase after them.

He isn't willing to give up his bottle yet, but I'm okay with that :) He drinks water/juice/cold milk from a sippy, but he still wants warm milk from a bottle 3x a day (AND once at night-yep, we are still up once a night! :/ ) He loves to eat and hasn't turned down anything yet! Along with breakfast/lunch/dinner, he also has  a mid-morning snack and afternoon snack.

Eleven.

Grant Joseph is 11 months old today!

Grant has 7 teeth (with one coming through now) and wears size 18-24 months in clothing. I have no idea how much he weighs...Around 23/24 lbs? He has filled out a lot recently!

He LOVES to eat food and hasn't turned down anything yet. I honestly couldn't even tell you a favorite food of his because he eats everything with such passion :) He still takes 4-5 bottles a day, and will NOT take a sippy whatsoever, I have tried every brand/style, but he has NO interest.

Grant's sleeping is so unpredictable. He slept great until a few months ago..I have no idea what happened, but his sleep schedule is so spontaneous now. He goes down at 8pm just fine (after bath & bottle)...one night he'll wake up at 2am to eat, the next night he'll sleep through the night, the next he'll wake up at 5 am...He always eats quickly and goes back to his crib, so I'm not entirely sure he actually needs the bottle-but he does always finish it. I'm kind of at a loss of what to do because the boys never had these kind of sleep issues, and crying it out really isn't an option because our home is small, & he'll wake Kane & the boys. And he is usually too worked up to take a paci. I really don't mind getting up with him-I LOVE snuggling him in bed-but I don't want to create a bad habit, especially now that he's older. Ideas? Thoughts? Sympathy?

Grant's eyes have really changed so much this past month! They went from a greenish/gray to a hazel/brown/gray color. It's really hard to explain unless you see them in person ;) They are dark gray-but in lighting, you can see hazel. They are obviously still in the process of turning, and they look different in every picture I take...go figure. Anyways, I guess they'll turn brown? Or hazel? Who knows.

His hair is also hilarious. He has every shade known to man right now. Seriously. Black patches, blond patches, brown, auburn, and everything in between. It's getting so long & curly in the back (yay!), but I'm going to wait a few more months before we get a real cut.

He is a master crawler & can disappear and get into trouble in mere seconds. I haven't really "baby proofed" the house yet (other then outlet covers & making sure legos, etc. are put up on top shelf). I'm kind of taking a "You stick your finger in that drawer, then you will get hurt" mentality with him- also known as, You Live, You Learn. I know, I should get an award.

He is no where near walking yet. I definitely have a few months before we have to go down that path. I see 2nd/3rd/4th time moms who are SO crazy with the whole walking thing. It blows my mind-I mean, it's exciting when it's your first baby...but with your other babies, you KNOW whats coming.

Grant has developed a little attitude lately. (^see above picture). When he doesn't get what he wants he lets out the loudest, most ear-piercing scream. It's horrible, really...

But even so...he always has a smile on his face.

Happy 11 months! I can't believe his first year is almost over!

10 Months

Grant is 10 months old!

I'm so behind on his 10 month post-this past month has been understandably busy. These past 4+ weeks have been consumed with the boys all being sick and Christmas festivities. And then there was the Sandy Hook tragedy-and honestly, my silence of this blog has been mainly due to that. My heart has been in deep mourning for the families involved-just like the rest of the county-and there really isn't much more to say then that. I have a kindergartner. I was in his classroom the day before the shooting, getting Carson's report card, chatting with his teacher, and watching the organized-chaos of the morning. It really hit close to home.

***********

Anyways, Grant-bless his heart-has managed to catch every.single.cold./bug that the boys have brought home so he's been pretty miserable.

He has spent the last few weeks perfecting his crawl and destroying the presents under the tree-he is particularly fond of a gold trumpet ornament and the red gift bows.

Last check he was 22+ lbs and has 7 teeth.

He apparently likes to watch me sweep, because his favorite game is to toss food from his highchair.

He is starting to be SO silly, too. I love to see his little personality shine through!

I wasn't able to get really any pictures this month with him being sick, etc., so here are just a couple!

He does this face ALL of the time! It's his concentration face! :)

Now, time, SLOW down!

another day

So I was going to write a catch-up post about Thanksgiving and all of our fun festivities leading up to Turkey Day, but Grant is SO sick right now. He had his 9 month check-up today & had 3 immunizations plus the second dose of the flu shot-he has been running a fever ever since. When he is sick, he will literally scream hysterically unless I am holding him.

Here is a before picture of him going nuts with the paper:

His appointment went well and he is doing great!

He weighed in at 21.3lbs, & 28.5 in long.

All for now!

9 months!

Grant Joseph is 9 months old!

At 9 months, Grant wears anywhere from 12 months to 24 months in clothing, depending on what it is. His check-up is on Monday so I'll know his stats then. Over the past two months, he has slowed down eating a LOT, until about 2 weeks ago...he definitely just went through a growth spurt, but even so, I expect just a modest gain from his last check-up. He eats around 24oz of formula a day, along with 3 meals (we've transitioned him to table food), and a snack. He LOVES his food! :)

He has 5 "official" teeth, and JUST cut 6 & 7 this week. His teeth came in strange, and so the one tooth that is STILL not through yet is his top middle right. It's really strange-I'm going to ask his ped about it on Monday, though.

His hair is coming in so good now! We trimmed it up again last week, so it is a little bit shorter, but he was looking shaggy before.

His eyes are a deep shade of green still, and right where a skin tag was on his right cheek (and now a small scar) is a deep dimple that I am just in love with. I'd say he is a good mixture of the boys! He has Harp's shaped face, but Carson's coloring.

Baby boy has the BEST personality. I say it all of the time, but he has blessed our lives SO much. He is so happy and sweet. He thinks the boys are hilarious, and will laugh until he falls over.

He majorly regressed in his MOTN feedings a few months ago...but honestly? I don't really mind. Instead of offering him a paci when he wakes up at 3-4 a.m., I bring him to bed with me and feed him. I know, I know...bad habit. But he OBVIOUSLY needs his mama. I'll work on it closer to his first birthday...

He babbles and shrieks and says "mine" when talking about his paci.

I snapped a few pictures of him on Tuesday:

Happy 9 months baby!

8 months!

Grant is 8 months old!

Seriously cannot believe I just typed that. In just a few short months, I am going to have a toddler again. Seriously.

Grant is in 12 month clothing (tops & bottoms) and in size 18 months for pajamas and bodysuits. I just took him shoe shopping the other day and he is in a size 18 months shoes. At his craniofacial appt. last month, he weighed in at 20lbs, 4.5oz. I'm thinking he's right at 22lbs now. I think he may be our least chunkiest baby, but he is really long.

Poor buddy tries SO hard to crawl, but he just can't get the mechanics of it right. I do think he will be crawling by his 9 month birthday, but definitely not for a few more weeks. He does, however, LOVE to stand. He thinks he is so big.

Grant loves to eat food. Because of his narrow throat, I have been so hesitant to give him table food, but I'm going to start transitioning him from purees to chunks of food. A bit ago, we gave him a jar of mixed berries and he broke out right after. I've kept that in mind and decided to try them again later. Yesterday I was eating a piece of homemade banana nut bread and pinched off several pieces for Grant-he loved it and gobbled it up. Bad call. About an hour or so later, he broke out all over his face, and the rash was there all day. Actually, it got worse throughout the day. :/ I'm 99% positive he has a nut and berry allergy-hopefully not anaphylactic & hopefully he will outgrow it. I'm going to mention it to his ped. and get in with an allergist. Because honestly, whats one more specialist?

I will go ahead and proclaim that he is in fact, the happiest baby ever. He does love attention, but will get sassy if he feels he is not getting the proper amount of attention. Just this past week he started fake laughing & it is hilarious.

Along with the bottom two teeth, Grant also has two more teeth on top (not the middle top two, oddly enough), and is working on FOUR more.

His eyes look SO green sometimes, and SO gray other times. Still curious about what they will end up being. His hair is a mixture of light brown, dark brown & he also has two jet-black patches of hair. We always get comments that it looks like he has a yamaka on.

And now...the picture overload:

Happy 8 months Grant!
