first day of preschool

it is official.

my oldest baby has grown up and left me.

last friday, carson skipped into his classroom, gave me, harper and kane a quick hug, and never looked back

i kind of just stood there, not really knowing what to do. i called his name one last time, and he gave me a big grin and waved. kane nudged me, "umm...maria? i think we're suppose to leave now."

kane went on to work and harp and i stopped at mcdonalds for breakfast. their sausage burritos were calling my name. actually, i have a feeling those burritos will be calling my name often since mcd's is just a minute away from carson's school.

carson had a great first day at school and he l.o.v.e.s. his teacher (as do i....did i mention we actually know her? she visits our church regularly, and kane and i have watched her baby in the nursery several times in the past year!)

harp and i were a bit lost most of the morning, especially harper who just lost his playmate/wrestling buddy. the poor kid walked around the house for at least an hour wearing a winter coat (it's 90° outside, by the way) while humming the tune to mister rogers' neighborhood. i think once we figure out our new routine, things will run more smoothly. we have a busy week ahead, including a trip to chapel hill on wednesday for harp's post-op.

at my last OB appointment, my doctor decided to set me up an appointment to get a 3d/4d ultrasound to make sure this baby doesn't have any vascular malformations like harp. they are pretty confident "it" won't, but i am grateful that at least we will know this time around if something vascular is hiding in baby #3. anyways, that appointment is scheduled for the 20th, which means we'll find out the gender of the baby then! and by that i mean we'll find out we are having another boy! :)

here are a few pictures from carson's first day of school:
